Drawing I  Unit Standards, Goals and Objectives

OBSERVATION:
Learners will be able to observe their surroundings and make art based on their observations.
(Blooms:   Identify, analyze, create   Standard:Visual art has inherent characteristics and expressive features, Reflective strategies are used to understand the creative process  GLE:  Recognize, articulate, and implement critical thinking in the visual arts by synthesizing, evaluating, and analyzing visual information Art Learning:   Expressive features and characteristics of art   Literacy:  articulation of findings through writing and visual language)
 
I can observe my surroundings and notice the details. This means I can make a work of art that depicts a detailed observation of my surroundings.
 
Learners will be able to create a work of art that conveys meaning through advanced mark making.(Blooms: Create      Standard: Demonstrate competency in traditional and new art media, and apply appropriate and available technology to express ideas GLE:  Develop and build appropriate mastery in art-making skills using traditional and new technologies and an understanding of the characteristics and expressive features of art and design  Art Learning:  Materials/techniques Literacy:                    )
 
I can use techniques of art and design to create a work of art. This means I can apply the skills I have learned to create art from observation.


Painting I Unit Standards, Goals and Objectives

COLOR THEORY:

Learners will be able to recognize, identify and evaluate the use of color in visual arts.
(Blooms:   Identify/ evaluate       Standard:  Visual art has inherent characteristics and expressive features, A personal philosophy of art is accomplished through use of sophisticated language and studio art processes.
GLE: Make informed critical evaluations of visual and material culture, information, and technologies. Recognize, articulate, and implement critical thinking in the visual arts by synthesizing, evaluating, and analyzing visual information Art Learning:   Expressive features and characteristics of art   Literacy:  articulation of findings through writing and visual language)
 
I can recognize, identify and evaluate the use of color in visual arts. This means I can meaningfully talk about how color is used in art.
 
Learners will be able to create a work of art that conveys meaning through the use of color and symbolism. (Blooms: Create  Standard: Demonstrate competency in traditional and new art media, and apply appropriate and available technology to express ideas GLE:  Develop and build appropriate mastery in art-making skills using traditional and new technologies and an understanding of the characteristics and expressive features of art and design  Art Learning:  Materials/techniques Literacy: Reflective written activity)
 
I can create a work of art using the principles of design and expressive features such as color and symbolism to communicate my ideas. This means that I can use color and symbolism to convey meaning.
