Rationale: I believe that these two documents are relative examples of my proficiency under this standard. My resume and cover letter describe my qualifications and experience with students in my content area. Without these experiences I would not have developed the understanding of how important it is to create working relationships with students. Building these connections, no matter how simple, are imperative to a harmonious and productive learning environment. I say harmonious in a way that suggests positive feedback when mistakes occur, creating a safe space for students to explore different techniques and media without academic consequence.
The lesson plan demonstrates the depth of thinking that I would like my students to practice. It also is a reminder for me to delve deeper in differentiation. With this lesson I could have devised less charged alternatives to this content, I feel it may have been too intense or too conceptual for some of the students in the class. In the future I will consider this experience when I am devising lesson plans or prompts for projects. Being fully aware of the mental maturity level of the students is key in developing successful project-based learning events. This lesson helped me to realize this in a way that is relative to my teaching style. I am glad to have had this opportunity to try a lesson out and see what happens without too much at risk. I feel that the students who were successful with the lesson now know more about what they can do with their skills, and the students who tried the lesson and pushed themselves to experiment have an idea of what they can achieve. My only regret is that I could have reached all of the students within the parameters of the lesson.
