Silver Creek High School
Setting and Context
Silver Creek high school is located in Longmont, CO, and is part of the St. Vrain Valley school
district. It was built in 2001, and hosts approximately 1185 students per school year. Like most
schools in Colorado, it operates with an open enrollment allowing students from outside the
boundaries of the neighborhood.
Silver Creek provides ample opportunities for learners to build community and be engaged,
including afterschool clubs, gifted and talented support, a myriad of team sports, and performing
arts.
Some after school clubs include: National Art Honor Society, Peace and Service for Africa,
Outdoor Adventure, and Debate to name only a few. Silver Creek is also home to the Universal
High School Program which works primarily with GT students at the high school level who are
looking for additional academic and social emotional support. A full range of team sports,
supported by the raptor booster club, are available for students. Learners also have the option of
engaging in the performing arts: Band, Choir, Orchestra, or Theater.
The school culture is built around leadership. Members of the staff and student body engage in leadership building activities and clubs.
