Metal Smithing and Lapidary Shop Education
Basic Fabrication Skills
In our Metals 100-101 class you will gain familiarity with the bench tools (all non-powered) that are available in the shop. We will touch briefly on different types of fabrication using cold connections.
Basic Power Tool Safety and Use
In our Metals 102 class you will gain familiarity with the powered tools available in the shop. We will touch briefly on some different reasons for using or not using powered tools as well as relevant safety precautions. We will also discuss some maintenance features for personal tools.
Basic Torch Safety and Use
In our Metals 200-201 Torch safety class you will gain familiarity with the two types of gas fueled tools in the shop. You will also gain some familiarity of soldering processes, including the 5 basic seams that are used in most fabrication processes using base and precious metals.
Even though COVID has restricted the amount of people that can be in the building at once, and in a class (shop area), we have continued to teach smaller classes. There are also one-on-one class opportunities for individuals seeking less contact. Through TinkerMill's website you can learn more about what our precautions and processes are during this time.
TinkerMill is now allowed full capacity. Boulder county health has lifted the mask restrictions for those who have been fully vaccinated. However, in the interest of preserving our right to remain open and the safety of our patrons we ask that you maintain wearing a mask while inside the facility.
Below you will find the schedule for technique classes, Metals 300 series, for the remainder of 2021. The Meetup calendar will show these classes approximately two months before they are scheduled to happen. I usually run a three month advance calendar in the shop.
LAPIDARY classes are now being offered in a two part class once a month! Check our Meetup.com calendar by clicking the picture above!
